So long, it’s been good to know ya

But we’ve gotta be drifting along.  We came to New York City because we wanted our kids to experience a big US city before we travel to even more densely populated cities in Asia.  It was a good call.  We discovered that our kids didn’t know how to move about in a crowd.  Eliza would see something of interest, start drifting toward it and nearly get run over by people coming in the opposite direction.  Eliza and Georgia loved watching people walking down on the sidewalks from their perch in the window of the hotel room.  They made interesting observations about how different life would be if they were growing up in New York City.  Eliza noted,  “It’s weird, I always think city kids would have less time with animals in nature, but the animals in the city are so used to people, you can actually get closer to them in the city.”

Of course their eerily realistic raccoon stuffed animal was seated between them.

Whether walking in crowds or taking subtle cues from the wildlife, I guess enough observations give us the tools to learn how it all functions.  We don’t always have the time, or at least it doesn’t feel like we do, in our normal daily lives to just observe.  Then go even one step further and process it all, letting it churn through our little idea factories.  We’re excited to run some more ideas and activities through…traveling to Boston today to see what we can find.
